flower crab hor fun with ginger oil, scallion and coriander drizzle

It is no secret that I love crabs, and since I saw some flower crabs being sold the other day, I could not resist and bought some to cook a dish for dinner.

Of course when I went home I didn’t know what I was going to do with them. I didn’t want to cook the same-old same-old. Then my mom suggested that I cook this.

It is a one-pot dish, which made it all the more attractive, seeing that I am always short of time.

And apart from being very delicious, it was so, so easy easy to put together too!

Let me show you how!

To start, clean crabs and cut each crab into 4 pieces. Reserve the shells.

IMG_9629

Pour the marinade over the crabs, toss to coat. Cover the bowl with cling film and refrigerate the crabs for an hour.

IMG_9637

Blanch the hor fun in boiling water for 10 seconds to get rid of excess oil. Drain and transfer the hor fun onto the bottom of a heat-proof dish.

IMG_9750

Arrange the crabs on the hor fun and pour the marinade over the crabs.

Steam this for 7-10 minutes, or until the crabs are cooked through.

5

Finely chop the coriander and spring onion and set these aside.

6

Heat ginger oil in a small sauce pan.

7

When the oil is very hot, turn off the heat, add the coriander and spring onion. Be careful – it will sizzle.

8

Pour the oil, coriander and spring onion over the crabs.

9

Serve immediately.

How is that for an easy-peasy one-pot meal?
